DECOLONIAL BY DESIGN - FROM INSIGHT TO INFLUENCE

A six-week executive accelerator for seasoned brand and comms leaders ready to turn decolonial thinking
into
informed action they can feel good about.

(And solve real-world challenges for clients, their practice, or org).

Start the year leading with insight that moves work.

With practical tools, prompts feedback and challenges that bring theory to life
(and firmly into practice).

What a time to be in comms, huh?
(as someone who gives-a-damn).

Over the past few years, I’ve listened to leaders in the sector — the ones who’ve followed podcasts, thought leaders, and conferences where inspiring insights are shared — and I’ve seen their spark dim a little when those insights fail to make it out of the conference hall and into the projects they actually work on.

I’ve worked with those who have big hearts but finite capacity to keep up with ever-changing, often unwritten rules about what’s sayable, valid, or meaningful. Or those in organisations where no real needles move.

I love hearing weeks or months later that a session, conversation, or prompt led to the reignition of a spark — the birth of a project, a new role, or even just a little bit of grace.

It’s these moments that inspired me to create this programme: a six-week container at the helm of the year, designed so those who give a damn can focus on what they really want to be doing.
(The work.)

You’ll ground yourself in timeless insights and practical tools, while being productively challenged through 1:1 sessions and a generative group discussion — all with the psychological safety needed to experiment, make mistakes, and iterate. And most importantly, you’ll turn theory into real-world outcomes that move your work, your team, and your impact forward.

FIRST UP,

What exactly is meant by decolonial?

Decoloniality is about untangling ourselves from, and contributing to the healing of, the harms caused by colonialism — including its ideologies, systems of validation, and ways of thinking, being, and working.

It’s important to note that this differs from decolonisation, which is a material process: reclaiming land, providing reparations, returning artefacts, dismantling economic power structures, and more.

Many don’t know that the history of branding in the West goes hand in hand with colonialism — and continues to today. Representations of people and places measurably influence where people travel, what they buy, who is made vulnerable, how we see ourselves, the opportunities we pursue, and how we treat each other.

This is why a decolonial approach to our work is so important.

Decoloniality supports decolonisation. It’s the mindset, practice, and cultural shift that allow material change to take root. Applied effectively to communications and brand practice, tangible impacts often follow.

This programme will help you understand where your work fits in the bigger picture and equip you to sow or deepen the decolonial impact of your projects, teams, and communications.

A nine-minute visual think piece by Najite Phoenix, exploring how binary thinking — rooted in colonialism and capitalism — shapes the world we live in. Through poetic narration and imagery, the video invites us to reimagine difference not as division, but as medicine. It calls for a return to balance by embracing the parts of ourselves and others that have been historically devalued.
